HealthyTJG is still here

It's been a while since I stopped updating.
Surprisingly I'm still on this healthy journey! And it's been very successful. I hit my weight goal, 47kg(103lb) a couple months ago. Now I'm around 46.4kg-47kg. Again the weight is just a number. So it is not important. But it is still a nice feeling!
I feel much better about myself. And I go to the gym more often than before. I also feel stronger. I am very happy about myself.
I just wanted to address this. And I hope it inspires some people. I could do it. It means you can do it. Losing weight is not what I'm encouraging. Being healthy and feeling good about yourself are what I wanna encourage you to try :-)

HealthyTJG week 8

I completely forgot to post blogs for week 6, 7, and 8!! I'm on week 9 now. I didn't expect I can keep this life style more than a month... I still struggle a lot though.

I hit 46kg in week 6. But unfortunately I'm back to 47.6-48kg... Maybe because I started lifting.
Anyway, my weight is not my main focus. And a receptionist at the gym told me that I look much thinner than before!! That's something, right?

I'm going to go on a vacation very soon... So I'm gonna eat everything I see during my vacation!!!!

I'll try to post some pictures on Instagram, Twitter, and snapchat. I enjoy using snapchat. If you are interested, please add me!

HealthyTJG week 5

Ok... This life style is becoming my normal life. I don't feel weird about controlling what I eat and going to the gym more often.
My weight dropped to 47.2 kg(104 lbs). Not bad...
I'm so tired from the week. It was a busy week for me.

I will be better at recording my journey this week, which is week 6. See you next week!

HealthyTJG week4

This week was tough... It's not because of the diet or exercise. TMI alert! My period completely destroyed me. I don't usually get any symptoms, but maybe the weather or work or whatever combined with period and decided to destroy me! Hahaha.
Anyway, I still managed to stay healthy at least physically. I kept going to the gym and stayed on my low carb diet. As a result, I lost more weight and didn't have crazy cravings any more.
Now I'm 47.2kg(104lbs). So far I've lost 2.4kg(5.3lbs) in four weeks. I'm impressed by this number. I didn't try to lose weight, but as a result, I lost 2.4kg! It's very interesting how your body reacts to what you eat and do.

Fitness
Monday: No gym
Tuesday: No gym
Wednesday: 15 mins run and workout, total 40 mins
Thursday: No gym
Friday: 30 mins interval treadmill training
Saturday: 20 mins interval treadmill training and workout(mainly legs), total 1 hour
Sunday: 40 mins running on the treadmill

Diet (I share only dinner dishes here. I eat a salad bowl or a small sandwich/wrap for lunch almost everyday. So it's pretty much the same thing everyday.)
Monday: Left over lasagna from last Sunday (I make a skillet lasagna often. And I use half of the ingredients amount from the recipe. Much less cheese. But it's still good.)
Tuesday: No dinner... I had to go to the dentist after work, so I couldn't eat dinner :-(
Wednesday: Pork steak with brown rice
Thursday: Work dinner... But I did not ear any carbs!!
Friday: Chili
Saturday: YAAAS! Cheat day!!!
Sunday: Vegetarian quesadilla

People say that you start seeing differences from week 3. I think that's about right. It's not a dramatical change. But I can tell my jeans are looser around my thighs. I also think that my face looks sharper. I have a round face, so it's easy to tell when I see my chin started sticking out more. Hahaha.
I can't believe I survived four weeks!! It's almost a month since I started. I really enjoy this new life style!
See you next week!!

HealthyTJG week 3

I think I like myself more than before since I started this healthier life style.
I can see that my face lost some fat. But I don't see any big differences yet. A funny thing is that I started ordering new clothes!! You know, when you feel good about yourself, you get more confident and feel sexy!!! I love it.
I'm still on week 3. But I'm already happier. It's not because I'm losing weight. It's because I feel good :-)

Exercise
Monday: No gym
Tuesday: Interval treadmill training for 30 mins
Wednesday: No gym
Thursday: 1 mile run and workout
Friday: No gym
Saturday: 35 mins interval treadmill training
I hit 47.6kg(104lbs)! I was so shocked to see that. It means that I lost 5lbs in three weeks. I feel like that it's a little too fast... But I'm not too worried. Saturday was my cheat day ;-)

Sunday: Ran for 25 mins and workout
I was right. After the cheat day, I'm back to 48.0kg.

I think that the interval training really burned a lot of fat this week. It's fun to see my body shape is slowly changing. And I feel great!!

Diet
I repeated some same dishes from last week, so I didn't take pictures this week. Again, please please share some low carb dish recipes if you know some!! It's so hard to keep making different dishes. And it's also difficult to do it in Japan...

Monday: Chicken fajita (it's the same recipe as last Monday. It was really good, so I made it again)
Tuesday: Omelette with onions, bell peppers, ham, basil, mini tomatoes, and Feta cheese
Wednesday: Quesadilla with basil and Feta cheese
Thursday: Pork steak with brown rice and spinach
Friday: Chili
Saturday: Cheat day!

Sunday: Skillet lasagna

I am more active on Twitter and Snapchat recently, so if you are interested in seeing my struggle, please follow me on Twitter and Snapchat!

HealthyTJG Week 2

Ok. I guess week 2 is a little easier than week 1. It's not because I technically had two days of cheat days. I have a good excuse for that. My family from Kyoto was visiting me/Disneyland on Friday and Saturday. So I wanted to have a good time with my family. You know what I mean...

Here is my gym and diet(mainly dinner) record of week 2.

Weight: started with 48.8kg(107lbs). There were small ups and downs during the week. Then, ended with 48.8kg(107lbs).

Exercise
Monday:       Ran 30 mins with 5.5 miles/hour
Tuesday:      No gym
Wednesday: Ran 20 mins with 6 miles/hour & workout (arms&abs)
Thursday:     Work out (leg day) & 10 mins walk on the treadmill *My right ankle is not happy recently
Friday:          No gym, but walked around all day at Tokyo Disneyland
Saturday:      No gym
Sunday:        Ran 40 mins (First 15 min was interval training)

Diet
I usually eat a salad bowl for lunch. I used to eat whatever I want for dinner, so I changed it to healthier dinner.

Monday: Chicken fajita with an avocado

Tuesday: Quesadilla (no meat; onion, bell pepper, spinach)

Wednesday: Gapao rice(brown rice)
I forgot to take a picture. I was so hungry!

Thursday: Skillet lasagna
I used half of the cheese amount from the recipe. And I did not use oil to cook it.

Friday: My family from Kyoto was visiting Tokyo Disneyland, so I joined them... It was hard not to eat all kinds of sweets and snacks there. I managed to eat unhealthy food minimum.
Here are what I had at Disneyland. I did not eat white rice in the photos.

Isn't it so cute? It's a Mickey Mouse shape chicken nuggets!

Saturday: Cheat day
Another day with my family :-)

Sundayyogurt & granola for dinner

If you know easy low carb recipes, please leave comments! I'm going to repeat some same dishes next week, so if I can get more ideas for dinner, it'll be very helpful :-)

See you next week!

Healthy TJG

I'm on week 2 of being on healthy diet. And I'm going crazy! I cannot stop thinking about food(not healthy food. I'm talking about.... Popeyes!!)!!
I've decided to share my healthy diet journey with you to keep myself sane. And hopefully it encourages you to be healthier and feeling good about yourself.

Why am I doing this?
I'm not afraid of aging, but I'm terrified to age badly! I want to feel good about myself. And I want to age well.
I thought that having a healthier life would help me to age well.

I'm a food lover and a couch potato. So my plan is not hardcore like fitness freaks.
My plan is eating healthier meals for 6 days and one cheat day and going to the gym every two days. As a result, hopefully I can lose some weight.
As you see, losing weight is not my main focus. I quickly get tired of worrying about my weight. And it's unhealthy to worry about the weight!
Having said that, I needed a goal to keep my motivation. So my goal for now is to be 45kg(100 lb). I was 49.6kg(109.3 lb) when I started last Monday, Feb 15th. My current weight is 48.8kg(107.5 lb), so I've already lost 0.8kg(1.8 lb). Not bad, right?
Let me tell you how short I am. I'm 148cm(4.85 ft). I'm super short! So 100 lb shouldn't be too bad. And I'm not saying that I'm gonna try to lose that much in a week or month. I'm going to take my time :-)

Now you know what I'm trying to do here. I'd like to share what I've done in week 1.

Exercise
Monday:       No gym

Tuesday:      Ran for 30 mins before work
Wednesday: No gym
Thursday:     Ran for 30 mins before work
Friday:          Ran for 40 mins after work
Saturday:      No gym
(I had my hair salon appointment! I need to be pretty to be healthy. Being healthy is feeling good about yourself, right?)
Sunday:        No gym (My excuse is... I didn't want to sweat and wash my hair right after I get my hair color retouched.)

Diet
Monday - Saturday: grilled chicken breasts, vegetables.... etc
I did not plan to share this, so I took only one picture of the meal on Monday. I will do a better job from this week!!

Sunday: Cheat day!!!!!! My boyfriend and I went to China town and had dim sum buffet!! Then, we found a new Hotteok stand on our way home, so we got it as well. We felt guilty to eat that much even we were on the cheat day, so we had smoothie for dinner.
*Hotteok is a Korean winter street snack. It's like a small pancake with cinnamon, sugar, nuts inside.

We can see the results together. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of changes I can see on my body! I hope it gives you some ideas what you can try too. Since I'm a beginner of this healthy life stye, I'd love to hear your stories!!

See you next week!
